Ryan Durkin
interview by: Mike Alfini January 2003

Mike: What projects are you currently involved with and what do you do in each of them?

Durkin: I play in five bands right now: Kungfu Rick, Hewhocorrupts, Littleman Complex, Tale of Genji, and Authority Abuse. I sing/scream in the first three and play bass guitar in the last two. I also help run a record label with my friend Andy called Hewhocorrupts Inc. The Sound Interrupt and Windy City Web Zine are two publications that I also help run and I occasionally put on shows at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Last I help out with some of the doings at Redline Distribution.

Mike: Besides your involvement with music and the scene what else do you do?

Durkin: I like roller coasters and travelling a lot. I'm planning on going on a roller coaster tour this summer. I also enjoy playing tennis and bowling as well.

Mike: Out of everything that you do which do you enjoy the most?

Durkin: I enjoy performing the most. I think it allows for the most creativity and freedom.

Mike: Is there anything that you haven’t done that you would like to attempt?

Durkin: Yeah, I'd like to learn more about bikes so I could fix my own bike one day.

Mike: What was the first show you ever saw?

Durkin: No Empathy at the Elmhurst YMCA.

Mike: What was the best show you have ever seen?

Durkin: In/Humanity and Charles Bronson in a basement in the Chicagoland suburbs.

Mike: What is your favorite place of all time to see shows?
